If you can't leave Graphic Design to the professionals...
Graphic design entails a lot more than just making things look pretty. Some parts are intuitive. But many others take years of study and experience. Readability - Comprehensibility - Eye Movement? Do you know what colors and fonts help your reader in his or her effort to understand your marketing material? Which ones hinder the reader? How do you please your reader's eye? What page layout techniques and elements do you use to lead their eyes through your entire presentation? How do you get your file to the print shop - in a format and layout they won't reject? Usually, a company hires a professional designer to layout their marketing materials. However, like so many things for the small business marketer, hiring a professional is not always an option. What happens then? Do you open up one of those programs that come pre-installed on your computer? Or buy a $9.99 program you found at a grocery store? If these are your only options, please review the following articles to help you create layouts that not only please your reader but also your printer. *Check back frequently for newly posted articles.
